Apiaries Melimel

The story behind the Melimel apiaries is a story of impact. Behind each apiary, there is a land owner interested either in pollinating his area, in taking care of the bees or simply in receiving honey at the end of each harvest. When we arrived in Santa Cruz to discover local beekeeping, we had no idea in which field to work, nor we did not know how to approach these areas. We also knew that we wanted to develop a sustainable model that involves citizens. Step by step, we left letters to the different places that interested us, introducing ourselves and presenting the wonderful beekeeping activity. Several people responded to us, and little by little we installed our apiaries in very diverse areas. We found incredible partners, like Celín, Carmencita, Billy, Fernando… We actually have a lot of stories to tell about all this experience. Our business model is to work in different areas renting part of the property of the interested person in exchange for honey. Thanks to this way of working, we have been able to build a bridge between people, beekeeping and the environment, since several of our partners were encouraged to adopt hives with us or simply to learn about beekeeping.
