Melimel was born from a deep respect for bees and nature, and has grown with a clear mission: to offer pure, innovative, and high-quality honey products. Our journey began in 2015, when we first fell in love with beekeeping. What started as a hobby with a few beehives in Bulgaria (Venko, Melimel’s co-founder, is originally from there) soon blossomed into something more. As fate would have it, his love for these amazing pollinators—and for Pamela, his Bolivian wife and Melimel’s co-founder—led him to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where Melimel was founded in 2018.

We started with 80 hives, selling honey under our brand and sharing the stories of the beekeepers we worked with—highlighting each batch’s exact origin and harvest season. Soon after, we expanded to 200 hives, including 45 that were part of our “Adopt a Hive” program, allowing individuals to sponsor hives while we cared for them. Inspired by the ancestral wisdom of bees, we began crafting raw honeys and unique fruit- and herb-infused blends using ingredients sourced from communities that protect Bolivia’s rich biodiversity.

Since then, we’ve grown our network and now work hand in hand with a growing number of Bolivian beekeepers—from the lush Amazon to the high Andean valleys—who uphold traditional practices, protect the environment, and bring out nature’s purest flavors. Together, we create products that connect tradition, science, and sustainability through the incredible work of bees.

In mid-2024, Melimel became part of TERBOL S.A., Bolivia’s leading pharmaceutical company. Now operating as a dedicated business unit with a world-class honey processing plant and FDA certification, we ensure the highest quality standards in every drop we produce. United by a shared vision of wellness and sustainability, we proudly aim to bring Bolivian apiculture to the world.

Once we began to discover the aromas and flavors that Bolivian nature offers, Venko wanted to find a way to share it with his friends in Europe, so he began creating honey extracts from local and exotic fruits and herbs for the world. These products also had a very good response in the local market, which catapulted us to create the variety of products that we now have in Melimel, all of them with honey as the main ingredient. “We were fascinated by the variety, quality and flavors of the different local fruits and herbs, and then I began to try combinations with honey from Bolivian roots” Venko.

Something very special about the extracts we produce is that they use simple methods, with natural ingredients and inspired by the wisdom of nature (bees, plants, flowers and fruits). “Thus, we managed to preserve all the properties, flavors and aromas of something as precious as Bolivian nature.” Pamela tells us. In addition, the entire process for the production of honey, is carried out in our own facilities, which allows us to establish high quality standards and in accordance with what our customers are looking for.

On the other hand, one of our greatest pride is that the food and pharmaceutical industries have implemented Melimel extracts in the creation of new products that contribute to people’s health and vitality. This gave us confidence that we can bring these nutritious and exotic combinations to the rest of the world.
